Principal’s Message – Apr. 2012

Dear Parents,

It was good to see so many of you come out to Cinderella Enchanted in March.  Your support and enthusiasm makes all the early morning, late afternoon, and Saturday rehearsals worth it for the students.  As you know, the students run the performances and they did a thoroughly magnificent job!  A big ‘thank you’ goes out to our staff who set direction and gave support throughout these months of practice.  Thanks to Hayley Blain, Renée Laugesen, Lena Pumber, Adam Gill, Jeremy Keys, and Rachel Primeau.

While most of us are on our Spring Break, our Missions team will be constructing a playground in Cuba under Mr. Ness, Mrs. McAllister and others – and our SALTS Sailing trip will be off the coast of British Columbia with Mr. Nystrom, Miss Thomas and others.

Thank you to all the parents who attended our Parent-Teacher Conferences right before the break.  Many families attended and thank you to the many parents who thanked the teachers for their work by bringing in a beautiful lunch for them that day!  Thank you for supporting our teachers.

There are some upcoming events that we hope you will attend.  When we return, the College will have a Spiritual Life Week right after Easter from April 9-13.  As we did in the fall, we will respectfully examine how our faith in Christ can grow.  During this time, as explained in an email home, we will have guests speak each day with the Junior and Senior Highs in a ‘coffee house’ setting, as well as a Parent/Student Luncheon on Thursday involving a panel of Master’s parents who integrate their faith into business and leadership roles here in the city.  Parent admission for the informal and interactive luncheon are $15 and available through the College Office.  On the early dismissal Friday afternoon, about one-third of our College students have volunteered to disperse to serve and volunteer at various venues across our city. They will be supervised by our staff.  Thanks to our IPOD Parent Council for arranging this.

On Thursday April 19, our Parent Council has again organized a K-12 Family Fun Fair from 5:00-7:30 p.m.  There will be lots of games, food, and activities that showcase what our Academy and College have to offer.  Tickets are $20 in advance per family ($30 at the door) and available online as well as before and after school in the Academy foyer. Thanks again to our IPOD Parent Council for arranging this.

I also hope you can make time to come to next month’s Principal Chats held on Wednesday April 25 at 8:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.

On Monday April 30 we will have a school-wide evening where Tom Rudmik, our CEO, and our teachers will report back to you what has happened in classrooms since last year’s Master’s 2014 evening.  You will not want to miss peeking a bit into the future on that evening.

In this month’s Guidance Corner, you will also find a summary of our school’s results on the January Grade 12 Diploma Exams.
