Guidance Corner with Mrs. McAllister – Sept. 2011

September 1, 2011

Hints for a Successful Year:

  • Get involved! Join a sports team, a club, the drama production, etc. It’s a great way to make new friends and gives you experience to put on your resume.
  • Set up a study plan. Cramming or working on a tight timeline is stressful.
  • Plan for activity. Being active is healthy and helps reduce stress.
  • Talk to God about what’s going on. It can be something as simple as “Thanks” or “Help” or “I’m Sorry”.
  • Keep one calendar with all of your commitments on it. This will help you plan your time.
  • Communicate with your teachers. Let them know if you need extra help, if you’re going to miss school, or if you’re feeling overwhelmed.
  • Follow the benchmarks for your assignments. It takes a lot less time to do it right the first time than to have to do a rework.
  • Make use of school resources: refer to Master’s Notes and check your grades in Assess.
  • Balance. School is important, but so are friends, family, and a good night’s rest.
  • Plan to make the most of your year and have fun! A positive attitude makes all the difference.

Upcoming Dates:
